Mister Twister History
1. From a small northern Louisiana town. . .
2. Use a pressure cooker to melt plastic. . .
3. Pour the melted plastic into book molds.
Humble beginnings that hardly seem like a 1-2-3 recipe for success, but after almost 35 years,
Mister Twister continues to lead the soft plastic fishing lure business, each year becoming more
and more innovative.
Yes, innovation has been the key to Mister Twister's success since the folks there developed the
Curly Tail® concept in 1972. Up to that time, rubber or plastic lures were stiff worms or grubs;
they had little or no action. The Curly Tail changed that, and Mister Twister sales soared. Soon
Mister Twister was selling millions of lures a year.
Sheldons', Inc., makers of the world famous Mepps® Spinner bought Mister Twister in 1982 and sales
continued to climb. When the Sassy Shad® was introduced in the 1980's, sales skyrocketed. The Twister
folks continue to introduce innovative new concepts to the fishing tackle industry. Lures like Mister
Twister's Top Prop® series, easily one of the hottest surface lures to hit the market in years. The all
new Mister Twister Smart Hook®. It is patented, innovative, differentiated lures like these that place
Twister above all others for all time.
Then there's Tri-Alive™, the only soft plastic lures to feature three colors, three natural colors that
come close to fooling mother nature herself. What about the Hawg Frawg® and Fightin' Crawdad®; the Jerk
Rat® and the Super Lizard™ II. How about Lil' Bits and Teenies? Literally millions of panfish have been
caught on these tiny Mister Twister grubs. Mister Twister's Phenom® and Poc'It Phenom® remain buzz words
among bass fishing's elite. The list goes on and on. What fisherman worth his salt hasn't heard of the
Mister Twister Electric Fisherman fillet knife?!
Thirty-five years of innovation has been an inspiration to the folks at Mister Twister. It's given them
an attitude. And that attitude is shouting out, "We're Mister Twister and you ain't seen nothin' yet!"
