TUBO Stirs Excitement

TUBO Stirs Excitement

We recently sent outdoor writer Marc Wisniewski a few Mister Twister TUBO's along with a press release. To say he was excited would be an understatement. . .

"I am writing from Wisconsin," he wrote, "so I won’t be able to use this lure till next may. But I am VERY excited to see this bait. Back in the late 1970’s In-Fisherman magazine did some pieces about using live waterdogs for Bass, Pike, and even Muskies.  I had a local bait shop get some for me now and then, and I used them when I could get them for a couple years.  I witnessed some of the most vicious strikes I have ever seen. Your description of 'violent strikes' is very accurate.  In fact, it may be an understatement.  I fished them alone on Carolina rigs, on big rubber-leg Bass Jigs, and even under a slip float.  The reaction was always the same.  I can’t even say they wanted to eat the waterdog.  But, they wanted to kill it.  My fishing partner and I once watched a Pike grab one boat side.  Before we even set a hook, that Pike crushed it and shook it back and forth like a dog with a sock toy.  He had a grudge against it!!!"

"Over the next few years," he continued, "the Wisconsin DNR regulations have made it very difficult for bait shop owners to purchase live amphibians for sale and therefore I haven’t used a live one since.  But, I have tried to find good imitations.  The regular 6” lizard that most lure companies make are good lures.  But, if you’ve had a live waterdog in your hand you will know that they don’t look anything like the typical 6” lizard bait. The TUBO is the best thing I have seen yet. This thing looks like the waterdog that I had in my hands back in 1978! Bottom line is that I can’t wait to fish this bait.  I have so many ideas for this lure that I don’t know where to start.  Bass, Pike, Musky, Walleye, I have big plans. This is a great looking lure!  It’s going to be a long winter waiting to get this one wet. I will certainly keep you posted."

Keeper Worm Hook

"I used the 2/0 Keeper hook for the past 10 years. The hook handled a 10 lb. bass like a small fish. There is no other big fish hook out there for me. Keep up the good work."

— Greg Peterson - Sylvester, Georgia
