I'm strictly a flyfisherman. My go to bait for catching panfish below the surface is the Mister Twister Nymph, Moss Green/Pearl color.
The largest fish I've caught so far was a 14.25 inch crappie from Lake Woodruff. I dont know what the fish think it is but when it hits the water and slowly sinks I strip it lightly making it rise and sink. The most fun I have is using my 3 wt. rod.

I was fishing the river at a creek mouth in about 15' of water. I tossed the Tubo up stream and WHAM !!! A northern Pike about 32" crushed it and the fight was on. If you have large salamanders in your water systems I say get this tube and see what monsters take you for a ride.
